Good Evening Lions,
The Convention Committee and District Officers have decided to cancel our Annual Convention scheduled for May 1-3, 2020. The decision to cancel was not a choice any of us wanted to make. However, the present situation with Covid-19 (coronavirus) means taking measures to ensure the safety of our fellow Lions. The current guidelines and restrictions from the State and CDC on large gatherings make it impossible to hold our convention.
What happens next:
1. Everyone who has sent in their reservations already will receive a full refund from the District. This is in process, you do not need to take any action for this.
2. Everyone who has already made their hotel reservation will need to contact the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel directly to cancel their reservation. The hotel has agreed to wave the $25 reservation cancellation fee. If you paid a deposit that
also is fully refundable, please check your confirmation to determine if an deposit was charged. Contact number for the hotel is 1-800-336-2463.
3. The Constitution & By-laws Committee and the Elections Committee are working with the guidelines from Lions Clubs International to lay out a process to complete our District elections in these unprecedented times. The adjusted voting process for this year will be distributed soon to all of us.
While we continue our service to our communities in these ever changing times, please be sure to follow the guidelines and restrictions put in place to help keep all of us safe. Make time to check in with our fellow Lions. A few minutes of fellowship with a quick call, short note, an email/text or just connecting together through Facebook are great ways to keep all of our spirits in good shape.
