Lions remember and honor veterans on Memorial Day in lieu of live parades.

Maine – May 21, 2020. All across the State, Memorial Day parades and commemorations are canceled. As disappointing as this is, the Maine Lions have found a way for the American spirit to prevail. There is another way for Mainers to remember and honor our fallen heroes and their sacrifice. In December, 2000, the U.S. Congress passed the National Moment of Remembrance Act (PL 106-579). This Act encourages all Americans wherever they are to pause and observe a moment of silence at exactly 3:00 pm local time on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2020.

How meaningful it would be if across the State we observed this moment of silence. This could easily be done in accordance with all social distancing guidelines. Perhaps, if we were really ambitious, we could even encourage our friends and neighbors to sing a chorus of America the Beautiful. We can do this together.
